July Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach Fishing Report

Well, July was one of those months. We had some good fishing and some days we had to go look for them. We saw some nice Kingfish, Cobia, Sailfish, a few mahi, and some nice amberjacks in the deep. Towards the end of the month we got our annual upwelling. This pushes cold water from the deep into our fishing waters. This can make finding the fish challenging while at the same time creating some opportunities. This will push the spawning snappers up in the water column. It will also get the cobia moving around. So be sure to have that cobia jig ready. Check out the eckman effect for one of the theories on our upwellings. https://www.offshoreengineering.com/oceanography/ekman-current-upwelling-downwelling/
