Knots are an essential part of offshore fishing, as they help to ensure that your line stays connected to your hook, lure, or bait. Here are three knots that are commonly used in offshore fishing:

1. Improved Clinch Knot: This is a reliable and easy-to-tie knot that is used to tie the line to the hook or lure. To tie the Improved Clinch Knot, pass the line through the eye of the hook, then make 5-7 wraps around the standing line. Finally, pass the tag end back through the loop and tighten the knot.

2. Palomar Knot: This is a strong and simple knot that is used to tie the line to a swivel or lure. To tie the Palomar Knot, double the line and pass it through the eye of the swivel or lure. Tie an overhand knot with the doubled line, then pass the loop over the hook or lure and tighten the knot.

3. Bimini Twist Knot: This knot is used to create a double line that is stronger than a single line. It’s commonly used for offshore fishing to increase the strength and durability of the line. To tie the Bimini Twist Knot, create a loop in the line and make 20 turns around both the standing line and the loop. Then, pass the end of the line through the loop and tighten the knot.

We will be more than happy to go over all of these knots on our fishing charters from Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral.
